What Has Changed in the Industry of Auto Repair?

If you track down the history of automobile industry, the changes that came in its way were simply amazing. The mechanisms kept changing rapidly with more advanced engineering doing a fantastic job under the hood as well as in other aspects like safety, ease of driving, connectivity and more. All this now have a huge impact on the industry of auto repair, where not only the techniques of repair got revolutionized but even the need for a repair faced a sea change too.

The modern cars made on advanced engineering need a different pattern of servicing and longer intervals of maintenance, reported an experienced mechanic of the Maple Shade auto repair center.

Longer Intervals in Maintenance Schedule

In earlier days, the automobile products used to need more of maintenance within a shorter span of time. Overall, milestone between two maintenance schedules or the first one was crossing 3000 miles or a usage period of three months from the date of purchase. But currently, the threshold for maintenance comes only once in every 6000 miles or after using the vehicle at a stretch for about six months. On the other hands components that earlier used to need a replacement in six months, now can be extended up to more than a year, while some might run for a lifetime.

Change of Oil and Filter

The modern cars are blessed with a cleaner breathing system though they still need the motor oil and the air filters to keep things working. But the newer engines with advanced mechanisms need to shift from natural to synthetic oil, so that it takes more time to get evaporated, contaminated, and stay thin for a smoother flow. More importantly, the synthetic oils do not freeze in cold temperature, so that you do not face any trouble to start the engine after a couple of days.

So, in the modern cars the need to replace the engine oil and filter comes only once in every two years, or only if your car has travelled for more than 30,000 miles.

Transmissions

In the current times, most of the vehicles are equipped with automatic transmissions. This is a new trend in automotive industry that has changed not only made driving easier but has also helped in prolonging the lifespan of the transmissions that seldom need a repair or replacement as of now. But the change is also observed when an automatic transmission gets damaged, as then its repair will be an expensive affair.

Other Components

Most of the other car components that make the vehicle move are now given the span of a lifetime to survive. Be it the electrical ones, the spark plug, the tubeless tires, the timing belt and the adaptive dampers, you need not worry much about these parts as long as you are ready to follow the regular driving norms and patterns. An experienced auto expert who run the auto repair service in Maple Shade reminded us that today the entire procedure of auto repair has become more easier since newer machines have almost replaced the manual interference.
